Abstract

In the framework of the investigation of the sinking of the B/P "Repunte" that occurred on 06-17-17, the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) identified that the life raft launching maneuver had been performed according to the instructions of the safety signage displayed on board, however, the crew was unable to board the raft which, in turn, was damaged by structural elements of the vessel. The results of the investigation of this event suggest that the deficiencies detected in relation to the launching of the raft could have a systemic origin (and not only attributable to this particular event) and therefore it was decided to carry out a study with the objective of determining and suggesting actions of a general nature.
